Twenty artists will be selected for:- Onsite exhibition at 526 W 26th Street #315, New York, NY- Online exhibition and online store catalog at ArttakesManhattan.org- Offline and online promotion through our media partners- Artist portfolio will be granted inclussion on Curatious: the art quality index for exclusive art advisers and collectors
The competition is open to artists 18 years old or older.
Media accepted: photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, net art, video, mixed media, design, light art, new media art, comic, collage, pottery, digital art, printmaking and sound installation.
Each artist can send a maximum of three artworks.
Artworks can be of any size.
Our curators will evaluate the artworks based on five criteria:
- Aesthetics, originality and creative vision- Research, impact factor and critical thinking- Technical skills- Potential for development in the art world
- Fill out the application form at ArttakesManhattan.org/apply-1/- Pay a non-refundable fee of $51 by Midnight of January 15th 2016 (EST)- Upload art images (max 2 pictures for every artwork). Our outstanding jurors perform their role on a volunteer basis. There is no compensation or refund of expenses for the selection process. Every juror will review all applications and will deliver a list of twenty artists on a scale of 1 to 20. The selection of the winners will be based on the sum of the jurors' votes.
Artists selected and invited to exhibit will be responsible for the cost of producing, transporting and insuring their works. The address in NYC where the artworks selected are to be sent will be communicated privately to the winners.
By submitting your artwork you are licensing Art takes Manhattan to use any files or captured images for future events, the website, and promotion. You still retain rights to your work. All work will be credited where applicable. Any attempt by a participant to influence the result or subvert the competition will lead to immediate disqualification. All entries must contain copyright-free material or material released with consent from the original source. Unauthorized use of any copyrighted images, text, or other material will not be accepted.
All registration information you submit must be truthful and accurate. Art takes Manhattan will not share any personal information with third parties except for the curatorial board of jurors. Art takes Manhattan collects information with the sole purpose of rendering a better service to you. You further represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and that your use of arttakesManhattan.org does not and will not violate any applicable law or regulation, or any agreement to which you are a party.
Please only submit original content. Your submission must be your own work and not infringe any copyright, trademark or intellectual property. Submissions must not be obscene, have any illegal content or include any false or inaccurate information about yourself, your work or other individuals. Submissions must not contain any viruses, trojan horses, worms or anything that are intended to damage any system, data or personal information. All images are copyrighted and owned by the artist. By submitting your work to Art takes Manhattan, you agree to let Art takes Manhattan publish, edit, use, modify or refuse the submission. You also give permission for your name to be used in connection with the artwork.If your work is selected it will be your exclusive responsibility to deliver the actual artwork to the gallery and to make sure it is ready to be displayed. Shipped work must arrive at an address (to be determined) before February 28th 2017 at 1a a.m., in a reusable container. A computer-generated return label for return of work MUST be enclosed. NO EXCEPTIONS. Pre-paid shipping arrangements must be made through UPS or FedEx websites or with other shippers who will pick up work at the gallery. NO U.S. POSTAL SERVICE OR COD RETURNS. DO NOT SEND CASH, CHECK, STAMPS, OR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION FOR RETURN OF WORK. Art takes Manhattan provides framing mounting and installation services, only when justified, at a cost to be determined by the artwork requirements and agreed on an individual basis. You agree that you will follow all of Art takes Manhattan’s procedures for promotion and exhibitions and that Art takes Manhattan has the exclusive right to revoke your participation if those instructions are not followed.You agreed that you are responsible for the maintenance of your gallery space and will leave the gallery space in the same condition in which it was found, reasonable wear and tear excepted. Only regular picture hooks and up to 2.5 mm thick nails will be allowed on the gallery's walls. Screws and bolts are not allowed. All hanging devices must be removed from the wall when dismantling the gallery space patched and painted. Great care will be taken with all work, but artists are responsible for insuring their own pieces if they wish. Art takes Manhattan will not be responsible for any loss or damage to work while on the premises or in transit to or from the gallery. Delivered work must be picked up on Monday March 5th, 3 – 6 p.m. The gallery accepts no responsibility for work not retrieved on pick-up date, after 30 days the gallery may dispose of the work.
Art takes Manhattan shall sell the artwork, whether onsite or online, only at the retail price specified on the application form by the artist. Art takes Manhattan will not accept any lesser price, without the prior consent of the artist. Absent a prior written agreement, no work of art shall be sold without payment in full. A deposit of not less than 20 per cent of the full price of the work will be paid by the purchaser before a red sticker or “sold” notice is attached to the work. No reservation will be made without a deposit being paid unless the purchaser acknowledges the sale in writing. No work will be removed from the exhibition by either party before the close of the exhibition except by mutual agreement.
Art takes Manhattan and the artist agree that the Art takes Manhattan's commission is to be 30 per cent of the retail price of the artwork. The artist appoints Art takes Manhattan as its agent for the purpose of exhibition and sale of the works of art included in the application form (and/or those artworks explicitly agreed upon between the artist and Art takes Manhattan) until the end of the exhibition March 6th 2017. Payment to the artist shall be made by Art takes Manhattan within 30 days after the date of sale of any of the artworks. Title to each of the artworks remains in the artist until the artist has been paid the full amount owing him or her for the artworks; title then passes directly to the purchaser. When the artist sells the work that was part of the exhibition from his/her studio within 1 month of the close of the exhibition, the artist will pay Art takes Manhattan the abovementioned commission.If you are not agreeable to these Terms and Conditions, please do not use Art takes Manhattan.org. Art takes Manhattan and its partners reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.
